Dallas Bridal Session | Ashley

Ashley found me through The Knot, and I am so glad she did.  Unfortunately, I was already booked for her wedding date, but at least I got the chance to get to know this beauty and her mom during Ashley’s bridal session.  She trusted me to drag her all the way to a random field/dog park in Dallas, without even meeting me in person!  I can’t believe it.  I had a gorgeous sunset to work with, lots of fun accessories, and a stunning bride.  What photographer could ask for more?  Congratulations Ashley & Bryce!  I wish you all the happiness in the world!

Pinterest Weekly: Succulents

I’ve become addicted to Pinterest.  Who hasn’t?  But I keep getting all this wedding inspiration, photography inspiration, and even home inspiration that I think to myself “If only my clients could be inspired by this too!”  So I figured…why not?   Maybe I’ll keep sharing from my weekly Pinterest browsings, but for not we’ll leave it with this particular inspiration:

Succulents.  We’ve been seeing them pop up recently throughout wedding magazines & blogs, decor & design websites, and of course Pinterest.  I did quite a bit of research on Succulents, because I needed a hardy plant that I couldn’t kill.  If Martha Stewart has a green thumb, then mine is more like red.  I just cannot keep things alive (plants I mean, Craig and Lucy are still thriving…for now).  Cactus are actually a form of succulent, so basically you should be able to starve them most of the week and they’ll still hold up.  Needless to say, mine aren’t doing so well.  But I think they might need a bit more sun.  I thought we had plenty on our balcony, but it looks like the area actually stays in the shade most of the day.  I’m still working on a new plan to make my Purple Hen & Chicks thrive.

bouquets.  It give such a natural, casual, organic feel to the decor.  Not only that but I will also say that the one thing that always saddens me while shooting weddings is watching the brides gorgeous bouquet go from being vibrant and beautiful at the beginning of the day to becoming droopy and sad later in the day.  Most florists can tell you a little as to how your flowers should respond to the weather conditions throughout today.  But let’s be honest, there is very little that can stand this Texas summer heat for very long.  But I bet these hardy babies would endure just fine.  Take a look.

McKinney Bridal | Jessica

Jessica got married today to her sweet, talented, jokester of a husband, Marc.  Jessica is not only beautiful, but from what I know of her, she’s a loyal friend and a woman of great faith.  These two will be quite a pair as husband and wife….but more on that later.  Here’s a little snapshot of her bridal session in McKinney.  Jessica and her crew braved the heat, humidity, and a few little ant bites to get these shots.  Well worth it I would say!undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedThese last two images were done specifically with Marc in mind.  Apparently he requested some shots of Jessica in her sunglasses, because well…she’s so stinkin’ cute in them.  Jessica hammed it up for the camera to fulfill that request.  C-U-T-I-E.undefinedundefined

West Texas Photographer | Mom + Dad = 40 years

My parents just celebrated 40 years of marriage this summer.  Instead of taking a nice vacation by themselves, they rented a lakehouse and invited all the kids, grandkid and 3 granddogs.  Were are JUST THAT cool, that they would want to share their celebration with us!  In all the craziness of the week at the lake, we didn’t really get any photos.  I thought about on the way home how I wished I had gotten some good pictures of my parents together. So when Craig and I went to my parents home for a visit in July, I coerced them into letting me take some pictures one evening.  I actually guilted them into it, claiming the whole time that it was my birthday, so they had to do what I wanted!:) I also told them that I needed good photos of them, just in case they kicked the bucket anytime soon…  Too Much?  Probably.  But I got my way!

We headed out to a little old cornfield behind the Walmart, and this is what we got!  undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedThese next two totally depict the way they usually are!  My mom thinks my dad is the funniest person on earth, so she’s usually laughing at something he said and he’s usually laughing at her laughing!undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Once again, Happy 40th Mom and Dad!  Love you!

DALLAS MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHER | KATIE

Katie of Kate Leverenz Photography wanted to do some maternity pictures, so she and I ended up exchanging sessions.  We had to wait until July, because you can see this girl has kept nice and trim throughout her pregnancy, so we had to wait for her bump to start showing!  I know, I know….I’m not even pregnant and I’m already jealous too!  Anyway, we started off Katie’s session in Deep Ellum because she really wanted to use the bright walls.  But I’ll have to post those later.  For now, I just wanted to post the second part of our session where we headed to a spot surrounded by God’s Creation (including fire ants…they are his creatures too!) for some final shots with the setting sun.  Here are the faves from the second half of our session.
